Our Story

Teacakes and egg custard pies from grandma’s kitchen. A household filled with the smell of yeast from rising dough. When your childhood is jam-packed with such delicious memories, you can’t help but be destined for a life bursting with the love of baking.

 

Bduoorn in Tuskegee, Alabama, Alieze’s passion for baking was ignited by her father who never let a birthday pass without a homemade cake. Her early baking days started with box cakes, but the scratch made cakes from her childhood ignited her desire to learn how to craft desserts the “old fashioned” way. Alieze would go on to hone her natural knack for baking through an apprenticeship with a Baltimore, MD bakery which led her to start her own treat business.

 

From delicious pies to wedding cakes, Alieze brings amazing skill and over 30 years of experience to #TeamLeolas. Like mother, like daughter, Diana’s affinity for baking stems from a childhood spent watching on as her mother baked for clients. With no formal training, all of Diana’s skill comes straight from the heart.

 

Named after Alieze’s maternal grandmother, Leola’s is an ode to the desserts of yesteryear. Cakes, pies, cookies and cobblers. Brownies and bars—if you can dream it up, we can make it happen!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much notice do you need for an order?

We need at least 48 hours notice for all orders.

Do you deliver?

Yes, we deliver to the DMV area. Delivery is free within a 5 mile radius of zip code 20012. Beyond 5 miles, additional fees will apply.

Are any of your desserts vegan?

Not at this time. We are always working on new projects in our test kitchen, so stay tuned.

What about gluten-free?

Not yet. We’re working on this as well :-)

Do you all make specialty wedding cakes?

We do! If you are interested in this service, please contact us for a consultation. Be forewarned, we do not do fondant work.
